Candle Care

Candle Care Guide

A little care helps you enjoy your Energie Candle Studio candles safely. Always follow the instructions on your candle’s label, including any wick-specific guidance and burn-time limits.

Before You Light

  • For cotton wicks, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each burn. For wooden or specialty wicks, follow the candle’s label instructions.
  • Remove wick trimmings, matches, and other debris from the wax.
  • Place the candle upright on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains, and anything that can catch fire.

While Burning

  • On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly toward the edges where possible, without exceeding the burn time on the label. Do not keep burning solely to reach the edges.
  • Never burn longer than the label allows, and never more than four hours at a time.
  • Keep burning candles at least three inches apart.
  • If the flame becomes unusually high, flickers repeatedly, or produces soot, extinguish the candle. Let it cool, check for drafts, and trim the wick before relighting.

Extinguishing & Cooling

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame gently. Never use water.
  • Make sure the flame is fully out and the wick is no longer glowing.
  • Do not touch or move the candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquid. Allow the vessel and wax to cool completely before handling or relighting.
  • Stop using a container candle when about 1/2 inch of wax remains, or sooner if the label specifies. Never burn it down to the bottom.

Storage

  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Once fully cool, use the lid if provided to help keep dust and debris out of the wax.

Safety Essentials

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep.
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Keep candles away from flammable materials, and never burn them on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Do not burn a candle in a cracked or damaged vessel.
  • Do not add water, oils, fragrance, or other materials to the candle.
